FADE IN:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - ATTIC - NIGHT
BAREFOOT. Her foot revealed her age. Long gone are those years when power was guaranteed as well as her youth.
She passes the entrance and walks straight towards the trunk. Slowly. No rush. Her white nightgown hides all the scars she gained all those years ago. The scars that wouldn't let her forget who she was. Heiress to the greatest of powers.
CAMERA MOVES UP SLOWLY - As she moves towards the trunk, it is revealed the face of one of the most powerful witches that ever walked on Earth. Heiress of the Power of Three. Daughter of the Twice Blessed Witches. A Charmed One. Her long hair is now all white, but her blue eyes remained the same despite all the wrinkles around them.
ON HER FACE - Jo Halliwell. She smiles as a memory pops into her mind.
Jo reaches the trunk, sits next to it, and opens it slowly. She's not young anymore. But she made a promise.
ON INSIDE THE TRUNK - Her wrinkled hands reach the book that lays on the bottom of the trunk next to some journals and a small wooden box with the initials P.H. engraved.
Jo takes the heavy Book of Shadows in her hands. She smiles as she stares at it with nostalgia in her eyes.
JO
(melancholic)
So many years!
Her voice is deeper than before. She runs her fingers through the split Triquetra.
JO (CONT'D)
I'm sorry I wasn't able to keep it together.
ON THE BOOK OF SHADOWS - Blank pages.
JO (CONT'D)
Someday it'll be whole again. Our magic will return. I know it.
Jo closes the book and puts it back into the trunk.
JO (CONT'D)
But it won't be me doing it.
(smiles)
No. I'm too old.
ON INSIDE THE TRUNK - She reaches the small wooden box and takes it out.
JO (CONT'D)
P. H.
(sighs)
Mom.
A tear runs down her face.
JO (CONT'D)
I made a promise to you once. Don't let evil win.
(another tear)
I tried my best, mom. It hasn't won. It's not over yet. There's still hope.
Jo takes her hands to her chest and takes a folded paper from the nightgown pocket. It is an old piece of paper.
JO (CONT'D)
They'll be prepared someday. I am sure. I wish I was strong enough to do it myself, but I can't. I just need to trust they will find this and meet their destiny someday. I know they'll recover our magic and embrace the Power of Three.
Jo opens the small box.
ON THE SMALL WOODEN BOX - There are several items in; Prue Halliwell's ruby ring as well as her engagement ring and the 'Prue' necklace. There are also some other letters there and an old photo where still can be seen the faces of Prue, Wyatt, and Chris Halliwell when they were teenagers.
Jo smiles and takes the photo. She stares at it.
JO (CONT'D)
I'll be meeting you guys soon.
VIEW AT THE ATTIC - Pretty much the same it was years before. The Book of Shadows stand is still in the center without the book on it.
Jo smiles. Turns around and leaves the attic.
FADE TO:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - OUTSIDE ATTIC / 1ST FLOOR CORRIDOR / HALL - NIGHT
Jo closes the door and turns the key. She takes the key off and goes down the small staircase leading to her bedroom.
She coughs hard.
OFF TO BEDROOM DOOR - From one of the bedrooms comes a young lady wearing a short black dress, a black leather jacket, and black high heels boots. Her long brown wavy hair is loose. She wears red lipstick. Her brown eyes wear brown shadows. There's no doubt, she's a Warren descendant; PRUDENCE ALEXANDRA HALLIWELL, 24.
As Prue comes from her bedroom, she sees Jo walking towards hers.
PRUE
Grams?
Jo looks at her granddaughter.
JO
Prue Halliwell, shouldn't you be in bed?
PRUE
I was going out actually.
JO
Again?
FADE TO:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - JO'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
The door is open. Jo comes in helped by her granddaughter.
JO
When are you going to stop those nights out?
PRUE
We've talked about that, Grams.
Prue helps Jo to lay on the bed.
PRUE (CONT'D)
I won't be home late.
JO
Don't lie to me, Prue. I know you better than yourself.
PRUE
If you knew me you'd knew I go by Alex.
JO
You are Prue to me. Always has, always will.
PRUE
If you're going to lecture me now, Grams, I swear I'll take my things and leave as I should have done all those years ago.
Prue sounds hard. Some serious feelings are inside this girl.
JO
This is your place.
PRUE
Do I have a place?
JO
Prue ---
PRUE
Don't, Grams. I had enough.
Jo starts coughing harder. Prue senses that something is happening.
PRUE (CONT'D)
(worried)
Grams. Are you okay?
Jo looks at her.
JO
Call your sisters. I need to speak to the three of you.
Prue stares seriously at Jo for moments, then she notices that it is serious. Turns around and leaves the bedroom. Jo keeps coughing. Not long after leaving, Prue comes back followed by two other young ladies in her pajamas. Both have long brown hair. The eldest, PERSEPHONE GRACE HALLIWELL (22) has hazel eyes while the younger, PRISCILLA BRIANNA HALLIWELL (19) has brown eyes.
Persephone and Priscilla rush to Jo's bed while Jo coughs harder and harder. Prue stands still at the doorway.
PERSEPHONE
Grams? Are you okay?
JO
I don't want you to worry about me, darling.
PRISCILLA
We have to, Grams. We love you.
Jo smiles as the younger of them says that.
JO
I love the two of you too as I love your cousins.
Persephone and Priscilla sit on the edge of the bed beside Jo.
PERSEPHONE
We should call the doctor.
JO
No. There's no time.
PERSEPHONE
What are you talking about, Grams? Of course, there's time.
JO
No, sweetie. It's my time to go.
PRISCILLA
Grams, please.
Jo holds Persephone and Priscilla's hands.
JO
My two beautiful girls. I wish I could've given you a better life. A life where you could have grown next to your mother and father and where we had the glory we had before.
PERSEPHONE
The past cannot be changed, Grams. Everything happens for a reason and we are very lucky we had you with us.
PRISCILLA
And we will for many years.
JO
(smiles at Priscilla)
No, my darling.
(glances from one to another)
It's time for me to meet my parents, my daughter, my sisters. Oh, my sisters.
(smiles)
How I miss them.
PERSEPHONE
No, Grams. We need you. Our cousins need you. Your other daughters still need you.
ON PRUE'S FACE - A tear runs down her face.
JO
My work here is done. I did what I could. From now on, you'll take over. There'll come a day you'll meet your destiny and finally become what you are supposed to be.
(smiles)
The Charmed Ones.
PRISCILLA
Grams, we don't care about that.
JO
You should.
Jo looks at Prue.
JO (CONT'D)
Prue? Come closer.
Prue doesn't move.
JO (CONT'D)
Please, dear. One last time, do as I ask.
JO (CONT'D)
I need you to become what you are destined to be.
PRUE
Destiny has failed us, Grams.
JO
No. Not yet. Not while there are Warrens alive.
PRUE
We are broken.
JO
(coughing)
No.
(looks at Prue)
Promise me that you'll embrace it when the time comes.
(glances at them all)
The three of you. Promise.
PERSEPHONE
The time for what, Grams?
JO
Just promise me.
PRISCILLA
I promise, Grams. Whatever it is, I'll embrace it.
PERSEPHONE
Me too, Grams.
Jo smiles at them. Then she looks at Prue.
JO
Prue, my mother was also stubborn. But she was also the most faithful person I've ever met.
PRUE
I'm not her, Grams.
JO
Oh, honey, but you have so much of her inside of you.
(smiles)
Please.
PRUE
I promise.
PERSEPHONE
Grams?
Persephone and Priscilla's eyes get wet as they realize Jo is gone.
PRISCILLA
No, Grams!
FADE TO:
EXT. SAN FRANCISCO - NIGHTAERIAL FAST MOTION view.
FADE TO:
INT. NIGHTCLUB - DANCING FLOOR - NIGHTMUSIC PLAYING - Tú Me Quemas by Chino y Nacho ft. Gente De Zona, Los Cadillacs.
The beat is loud. People are enjoying themselves on the dance floor to the sound of the Latin music played by the DJ.
A group of people is dancing along, both men and women. Prue is one of the women dancing along. As her friends seem to have fun while dancing, Prue is trying to shake off her feelings away. Not a smile on her face. Not a sign of fun. Just sorrow and pain behind her eyes.
A couple of men approach her but she pushes them away while keeps dancing. Prue spins as she moves to the rhythm of the music.
OFF TO ANOTHER GROUP - A few men are not far from Prue’s group, also enjoining the beat.
One of the MEN smiles at what one of his friends says. Suddenly, his glare is attracted to where Prue is. MAGICALLY attracted kind of.
His ocean blue eyes are locked staring at Prue while she dances in a very sexy way.
MAN’S POV - He sees how the two men approach Prue again and ---
ON MAN’S EYES - They GLOW YELLOW for a moment. Then the GLOW disappears.
The MAN keeps staring at Prue while she spins and as she does, her glare meets the man’s glare.
ON PRUE’S EYES - They GLOW BLUE for moments. It could be assumed that the glow was due to the disco ball, but there’s something MAGICAL there. Then the GLOW disappears.
But Prue and the Man hold each other’s glare for a few seconds before others move in front of them breaking whatever magic attracted their glance to each other.
FADE TO:
INT. NIGHTCLUB - NIGHT (LATER)
LOUD MUSIC. The place is crowded. People are dancing and drinking. The big round counter is at the center and some patrons are sitting by it drinking and talking with one another.
One of those patrons is Prue. She sips her gin tonic as a lone tear runs down her face. She wipes it immediately.
The right seat next to hers is empty. Prue sees someone approaching out of the corner of her eyes. A man. The man from the dancing floor.
LEONARDO WARREN MATTHEWS (25), tall, curly dark brown hair, blue eyes, casual clothes. He motions to the barista to order.
LEONARDO
A gin tonic, please.
English accent.
PRUE
Make it two.
LEONARDO
If you're trying to get drunk there might be other liquids that might work faster.
Prue looks at him and damn, she can't avoid noticing his deep ocean blue eyes.
LEONARDO (CONT'D)
Vodka, maybe.
For a few seconds, Prue says nothing as she seems to be trying to process the whole ocean blue eyes. Leonardo smiles like he knows the effect he has on women. That smile brings Prue back to where she is.
PRUE
I hate vodka and no, I'm not trying to get drunk. I'm already drunk.
Leonardo smiles again. The barista approaches with two glasses and puts them on before each one of them.
LEONARDO
(to the barista)
Thank you.
Prue sips her drink. Leonardo glances at her and then at the empty seat.
LEONARDO (CONT'D)
(motioning to the empty seat)
Can I?
PRUE
Be my guest.
Leonardo sits beside Prue and sips his gin tonic.
LEONARDO
Alone?
PRUE
For most of my life, yes. English accent?
LEONARDO
For my whole life, yes.
LEONARDO (CONT'D)
Would you mind the company?
PRUE
(smiles)
Would that company be yours?
She's bold. Leonardo smiles big. He glances around before staring back at her.
LEONARDO
I don't see anyone else in here.
PRUE
Good. Me neither.
(sips her drink)
Alexandra. But you can call me Alex. Just Alex.
LEONARDO
Leonardo. But you can call me Leo.
Prue smiles. She raises her glass to him.
PRUE
Nice to meet you, Leo.
LEONARDO
Delighted to make your acquaintance, Alex.
Prue smiles and bites her lip as Leonardo can't take his look off of her.
FADE TO:
INT. LEONARDO'S CONDO - BEDROOM - NIGHT (LATER)
The lights are off when the door is slammed opened and two people come in kissing passionately each other. Their hands run through each other's bodies. One of them tries to look for the switch which is found quickly without breaking the whole hot kissing.
Lights on. The room is not too big. There is a bed, two nightstands, a closet, and a desk. The furniture is modern and the bedroom is tidy.
Prue helps Leonardo to get off of his jacket as he slams the door closed behind them. Not losing time, he quickly helps her to get off of her jacket. Prue starts unbuttoning his shirt. They look at each other deeply. Leonardo smiles big.
LEONARDO
Are you always this passionate?
PRUE
I have hot blood.
Leonardo kisses her. He turns her around and starts unzipping her dress as he kisses her neck. Prue leans her head back and closes her eyes. She turns around and both look at each other deeply again.
PRUE (CONT'D)
You must know that I don't do relationships.
LEONARDO
We'll talk about that later.
Leonardo drives her to the bed and both lie down. He on top of her. Both kissing each other passionately.
FADE TO:
INT. LEONARDO'S CONDO - BEDROOM - DAY (NEXT DAY)
ON LEONARDO'S FACE - The sun touches his skins. His eyes pop open with some difficulties. He tries to protect his eyes from the sun.
Leonardo, only covered by the black sheets, turns to the other side of the bed and as he touches the sheets, he realizes that it is empty. He smiles.
LEONARDO
Well, she said she doesn't do relationships.
He gets up and leans back on the headboard.
SOUND - Cell phone ringing.
Leonardo rushes to the bottom of the bed and takes his pants. He looks for the cell phone and answers it.
LEONARDO (CONT'D)
(on the phone)
Hello! --- Mother. No, I've just woken up. --- Are you serious? --- No, mum, of course, I know that they're family. I just never met them before. --- Fine. I will go. Thank you for informing me, mum. --- Love you too.
Leonardo hangs off the phone.
LEONARDO (CONT'D)
(sarcastic)
A funeral. Just what I needed!
He gets up off the bed and walks into the bathroom.
FADE TO:
SEVERAL CARS are parked outside. People wearing black clothes head in the Victorian-style manor located on 1329 Prescott Street.
FADE TO:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - SEVERAL ROOMS - DAY
A QUICK VIEW at several rooms such as the living room, the dining room, and the conservatory room. There are a lot of people wearing black.
FADE TO:
Prue, Persephone, and Priscilla are there. All three wearing black dresses. There seems to be tension between them.
PERSEPHONE
(to Prue)
You are the eldest.
PRUE
I'm tired of being the eldest. I never asked for it.
PERSEPHONE
Well, sis, you didn't have a saying on that.
PRUE
Exactly. Why don't I have a saying on this? I'm not her only grandchild. There are you two and the others.
PRISCILLA
She loved you.
PRUE
She loved everyone in this broken family.
PERSEPHONE
Can you stop being you for one second and think about Grams?
(hard)
You are not the only one suffering. She was the last drop of glue that kept us together. And when I say us I mean us. The whole family. Everyone there is suffering.
Persephone's eyes get wet.
PERSEPHONE (CONT'D)
We all lost something or someone, Prue.
PRUE
(out loud)
Alex!
(breaths)
My name is Alex.
PERSEPHONE
Your name is Prue.
(rude)
Now get in and do what you must. Be the woman she always saw in you.
Prue and Persephone stare at each other. A tear runs down Prue checks. She wipes it immediately. Then she finally gives in. She takes a deep breath and heads inside. Priscilla hugs Persephone.
PRISCILLA
Let's go.
FADE TO:
INT. HALLIWELL MANOR - CONSERVATORY ROOM - DAY
Everybody tries to accommodate themselves inside the room. The furniture was taken off and some chairs were put in. The chairs are not enough for everybody, so most of them have to stand. The first row is occupied by the direct family; Jo's two daughters, their husbands, and grandchildren. The rest of the family and friends occupy the other rows and many others stand.
At the top of the room, there are two photos on a stand each. One of Jo as young and another as an old woman. Between the photos is a table with several portraits of Jo during her life with her family.
Prue comes from the garden followed by her sisters, Persephone and Priscilla. Persephone and Priscilla take their seats at the front, while Prue stands before the people present there. Prue glances at them all.
OFF TO LEONARDO - He comes unnoticed and stays at the back.
Prue closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Then she opens her eyes and looks at the presents there, or at least she seems to be looking at them, but deep down she is not actually seeing those presents in the room.
PRUE
Jo Halliwell was more than just my grandmother.
Leonardo's mouth opens as he sees Prue standing at the front. He recognizes her. Astonishment is all written on his face.
PRUE (CONT'D)
You all might remember her as the heiress of the Twice Blessed Witches. The first triplet in the family. The glue that united us Warrens. But for me, she was my mother, my father, my rock, my everything.
(glances around)
I didn't want to do this.
Leonardo tries to stay hidden behind a taller man.
PRUE (CONT'D)
But she would want me to. She was like that. She could make you do what you don't want to do. Not much was necessary to make her happy. She just needed to know that there was Warren blood out there. Ready for whatever comes.
(forces a smile)
She never stopped believing while many of us didn't.
PRUE (CONT'D)
I'm gonna miss her goodnight kisses, her lectures when I came home late at night or didn't come at all until the next morning.
(pauses)
I read a phrase once in a book that describes her.
(quoting)
'The only way to get hurt in this life is to care'.
(pauses)
Grams cared more than most, loved more than most, and was made to suffer more than most because of just how much she cared for this family.
Tears run down Prue's face.
PRUE (CONT'D)
That's her and that's what she left in me.
Persephone and Priscilla hold each other's hands as tears run down her face.
PRUE (CONT'D)
You might remember her ---
(glances at Jo's younger photo)
--- as Jo Halliwell, the Charmed One. The great witch that was born from the greatest of powers. The carrier of the Twice Blessed power.
(looks forward)
But I'll remember her ---
(looks at Jo's older photo)
--- as my everything.
Prue cries heavily with tears flowing steadily. Then, Prue turns around and leaves the room towards the garden outside.
ON LEONARDO - A tear runs down his cheeks.
Leonardo turns around and leaves the room quickly.
CUT TO BLACK.
END OF TEASER.
